1.5.19.3. Service life of tyres
THE GENERAL DATA

Service life of tyres depends basically on following factors:

Pressure in tyres

The prevention

Wrong pressure in tyres leads to the raised deterioration of tyres and negatively affects coupling of tyres with road, conducting to loss of controllability of the car and traumas.

Wrong pressure in tyres can lead to that the tyre can suddenly go down that will lead to failure and traumas.

Check pressure in tyres twice a month and especially before distant trips. Do not forget to check up also pressure in a spare wheel. Always check pressure in tyres when tyres cold. When tyres warm, pressure will be above. Do not lower pressure in warm tyres.

Use the exact gauge for pressure measurement in tyres. Do not pump up the tyre to большего pressure, than it is specified on a tyre lateral face. Pressure in the cold tyre designates that the car before check stood within at least 3 hours or has passed no more than 1,5 km.

Always check pressure in the tyre of a spare wheel at pressure check in tyres.

Demanded pressure in cold tyres is resulted on a label pasted in a luggage carrier on the back panel.

For cars with the big decorative caps: on gates extension pieces instead of dustproof caps are established.

At pressure check in tyres, do not remove extension pieces of gates.

Style of driving

Abrupt turns, fast dispersal and sharp braking increase speed of deterioration of tyres.

Balancing of wheels

Wheels on the new car precisely отбалансированы. After the certain period of operation, however, the various reasons lead to disbalance of wheels. It can be appreciable as vibration at steering wheel turns.

As driving with the debalanced wheels leads to fast deterioration of the mechanism of a steering, a suspension bracket and tyres, wheels it is necessary отбалансировать anew. It is necessary to spend balancing of wheels each time after replacement of the tyre or its repair.

Shift of tyres

If forward tyres have worn out more than back, we recommend, that you have changed in places forward and back wheels how is shown on an illustration.

Having performed this operation, you will provide to all tyres almost equal service life.

After shift of wheels, adjust pressure in tyres and tighten bolts of fastening of wheels диагонально to 110 Н.м.

Tyres always should remain on one party of the car.

Only in the event that on tyres there are unusual wear tracks, such, for example, as on tyre edge, them it is necessary to replace deterioration диагонально.

Deterioration of tyres

The tyres established on cars Audi by manufacture, have the indicators of deterioration provided by a design. They are soldered in on a bottom of flutes of a protector and become visible as a strip in the thickness about 12 mm when protector drawing will wear out so that depth of flutes becomes equal 1.6 mm. Depending on what manufacture of the tyre, on them are available from 6 to 8 indicators of deterioration located in regular intervals on a circle of the tyre. Marks in a lateral surface of tyres (for example, letters "TWI" or a triangle) designate a site of indicators of deterioration.
