11.3. A power absorbing steering column

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1) disconnect a wire of the negative plug of the accumulator for switching-off of system of an air cushion of safety 2) establish forward wheels directly 3) remove a safety air cushion 4) remove a casing of the block of switches of a steering column (it is specified by arrows) 5) disconnect a socket of connection of an air cushion of the safety, located under a casing of the block of switches of a steering column. For this purpose, by means of a screw-driver, press a uvula (it is specified by an arrow) on the brink of a socket 6) remove a steering wheel 7) ослабьте a clip on the block of switches of a steering column also remove the block of switches 8) remove screws (are specified by arrows), fastening an instrument guard 9) disconnect a socket of connection and remove an instrument guard 10) disconnect a socket of the lock of ignition from the lock of a steering column 11) turn off four bolts of fastening of the knee buffer and remove a cap (it is specified by an arrow) 12) disconnect control sockets from the knee buffer and clean them aside 13) remove the knee buffer 14) disconnect the basis of a shaft of a steering column (it is specified by arrows) from a fixing arm 15) by means of a screw-driver in length about 15 mm, accurately remove a cover from a shaft of a steering column 16) turn off nuts (are specified by arrows), fastening a casing of a steering column / a fixing plate to a fixing arm 17) lower a steering column downwards and turn it so that it it was possible to remove from below panels of devices

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1) establish a steering column from below in an aperture of the panel of devices 2) establish a steering column / a fixing plate on a fixing arm. Insert bolts 3) insert a key into the ignition lock 4) unlock the lock of a steering column that it was possible to rotate a shaft of a steering column 5) press the basis of a steering column to a tube with flanges and to a fixing arm by means of flat-nose pliers. Connect them by means of bolts 6) tighten fastening nuts (are specified by arrows) steering column and arm 7) connect a socket of the lock of ignition to the lock of a steering column The prevention Do not try to straighten elements of a steering or to spend on them repair welding works.
