1.6.4. Safety locks

THE GENERAL DATA

The exit of any system of an electric equipment can be out of operation caused the fused safety lock.

Safety locks are collected in one block. The block of safety locks / of the relay is located under a cowl of an impellent compartment. Safety locks are closed by a cover.

On the block of safety locks there are four spare safety locks of different capacity. It is quite good to have a set of spare safety locks in the car. They can be got at the dealer of firm Audi.

Safety lock replacement

Before safety lock replacement, switch off all headlights, bulbs and a car electric equipment, and also get a key from the lock of ignition not to damage electric equipment system.

For removal of a cover of the block of safety locks / of the relay, disconnect both latches outside of a cover.

Remove fused safety lock by means of a plastic clip. This clip is located on a cover of the block of safety locks / of the relay.

Replace fused safety lock which can be defined on the fused metal strip, a safety lock of the same capacity.

The prevention

Do not use a safety lock большей capacity as it can lead to damage of electric equipment any of elements and a fire.

If the safety lock constantly fuses, do not replace it continuously. It is necessary to find an overload or short circuit source. In no event it is impossible to establish a foil or wire piece as it can lead to damage of electric equipment any of elements and a fire instead of a safety lock.

After safety lock replacement, establish a cover of the block of safety locks / of the relay into place.

Colour designations

Safety locks on 5 And - brown colour

Safety locks on 10 And – red colour

Safety locks on 15 And – dark blue colour

Safety locks on 20 And – yellow colour

Safety locks on 25 And – without colouring (white)

Safety locks on 30 And – green colour.

Electric chains of the hatch, Glass lifts and regulators of position of sitting of the driver are protected by automatic switches which join again automatically after the reason of an overload of a chain has been eliminated.
